
My advert aims to appeal to the
target demographic of 14-25 year old women that want to stand out from the
crowd. This is because, referring to Gillian Dyer’s lines of appeal, I would
say that my advert portrays the idea of self-importance and pride. I did
this by including a variety of techniques to make the model catch the
audience’s attention and make them aspire to be like her in order to help sell
the product. For example, I placed two blurred pictures of the model in the background
to create a 3D effect and make the model at the centre stand out. I enhanced
the lip colour to draw attention to the pink shades of the advert as the
perfume has a pink hue. Stereotypically, this is a feminine colour, which again
would appeal to women of that age group. This also forms a correlation between
the image and the perfume bottle. The glitter is an effect used to directly
address the audience and create this sense of fantasy and make the advert
slightly surreal. I followed conventions of fragrance advertisements
by placing the perfume in the bottom right and the name on the other side of
the model.
