Audience research conclusions
From our audience research we could
conclude that our target audience (approx. 16 year old teenagers) would prefer
to have an abandoned house setting, eerie music etc. By using this information,
we could suit our trailer to them more and therefore it would be more appealing
to them.
2.
Genre
Our trailer was a supernatural horror
movie. We merged elements of ghosts and other paranormal objects with the
classic horror genre to make it more modern and relevant to this generation. We
followed the following conventions: thrilling music, pop-up scenes, rapid shots
and didn’t follow the convention of having all dark shots because it would made
the trailer bad quality.
3.
Content/structure
We will call our film The Recurring. We
thought of this because many horror movies use the concept of “The” followed by
an adjective as their title. We also chose it because it sounds powerful and
haunting. The main story if the death of a girl, who comes back to haunt 3
school children exploring a house. We will give very little away in our trailer
to keep it exciting and we are going to mix up the chronological order of the
film in the trailer for an effective structure.
4.
Audience
Our target demographic is a 15-16 year old
teenage boy interested in horror, ghosts etc. They will most likely be of
middle to upper class. Our trailer will appear to them because we have
conducted research and made it gripping and entertaining for this age
5.
Representation
Our trailer will represent the characters
quite stereotypically, with the girl becoming very scared at first and the two
boys protecting her .I believe these are representations typical of horror
movie genres, however.
6.
Institution
Other products released will be promotional
posters, mugs, clothing and stationary. Synergy will be created through the use
of Alice, who is the ghost and our main promotional figure. Our trailer will be
distributed across Europe and them , if successful, other civilised places.
